It’s quite interesting that as a Ward Administrator, people keep on referring to you as Pastor. So are you a REAL Pastor? In the truest sense of the word? Yes, indeed. I am a Pastor. I may not be as active but even before i got born again, people still referred to me as Pastor. So, I still preach (smiles)

So, what was your first job experience? For 5 years after clearing my high school, I was a Sales person selling shoes.  During that 5 year stint, I was able to develop selling and negotiating skills that I still apply to date when dealing with the County residents in my current role as Ward Admin.

So, is it safe to assume that your experience so far working as a County Government employee has been smooth sailing? Hahahahaha…..do not assume so. My role has had its fair share of challenges but has been interesting on the whole. Being a pioneer ward administrator gives me a lot of pride when serving the community.

So what are the challenges you have faced so far? Mainly, its due to over-expectation from the general public. Most of them expect mountains to be moved after only two years of devolution.By explaining to them that it’s a new concept and that we are work in progress since we currently do not have any yardstick on which to measure the County governments performance, they are slowly getting to appreciate the positives that have been brought about by devolution.

Anything that you love about your job? The fact that its very interactive. It will inevitably make you an outgoing person by default.

In life, who is your role model? My mother. She moulded me to be where I am today. She also taught me the importance of respecting others and how to be independent and self reliant.

After a long day of hard work, what is the specific meal you would love to be welcomed home with? Am an old school kind of guy so I will go for Ugali, Beef fry and Greens (Sukuma)

Your favorite getaway spot within the County? Sarova Salt Lick Lodge. The serenity and the general high quality of service is what i appreciate the most.

In your down time, what do you enjoy doing the most? I love acting. Through my outfit, Wafuasi Theatre group, we have had the glorious opportunity to record some feature films under the brand name “Vollywood Productions” which is our very own Hollywood in Voi. Some films I have acted in are Hidaya, Fumbo la Mji and Mwisho wa Siri. I also love travelling.

Talking of travelling, where is your dream holiday destination? That’s a no brainer! It has to be California, Hollywood. With my interest in acting, i would love to see how our American counterparts do their thing.

Any sport you enjoy? I love Football. Though these days i have been relegated to being a fan rather than a player. In my playing days, I used to play striker position number 9. My favorite team is Chelsea mainly because of Didier Drogba, who recently left the team. I think he is very disciplined and I admire his traits a lot.

So, back to work ‘tings’. What specific thing don’t you like doing? Mobilizing the public. Aaargh! But I have to do it anyway.

If you were on an island and could only bring three things, what would you bring? Water, Phone, Snacks.

Lastly, If you were 80 years old, what would you tell your children?  I would advise them how to live well while young and about the invent of mobile phones and how its use has changed our lives for the better. Finally, i would tell them the history of how the County Government started and the role I played in it.
